What is Coaching?
Coaching is an intentional, conscious, and focused process that uses conversation, targeted action, and accountability to create an experience for sustained personal and professional growth. It's designed to encourage people to concentrate on what they need to do in order to achieve their goals.
Coaching is a one-to-one relationship between an individual and their coach. The purpose of the relationship, including the desired outcomes, is established at the beginning of the process by both the client and the coach. The sessions can take place in a face-to-face setting or via the telephone, and utilizes a customized approach focusing on behavior change and action. The coach assists the client in going beyond the obstacles that stand between them and achieving their goals.
The coaching relationship is confidential. And, if the client is in an organization and the organization is paying for the coaching services, it is established at the very beginning of the process that the relationship is confidential. It's critical that important issues like who is the client and who the coach is answerable to be established from the outset.
